REOG PONOROGO History


Reog Poinorogo is an dance art that still exist today and it became a debated topic some months ago. It claimed by Indonesia neighbor, Malaysia as the it’s creation, meanwhile it has been known that it originally art from indonesia.

Reog Ponorogo is a creation of Ponorogo people. You can see in portal of Ponorogo town there are two statues, Warok and Gemblak that become icon of reog Ponorogo. It has become an object that can invite tourist attention. As in reog show there are some attraction that folowed by all of dancer.

This traditional dance was created by Ki Ageng Kutu, a Politician in Majapahit Kingdom period. It used by Ki Ageng Kutu to give illusion for Majapahit King, Bra Kertabumi. Bra kertabumi was a king of Mojopahit who prefer his collegant from China that Ki Ageng Kutu. Meanwhile Ki Ageng Kutu predicted that because of Kertabumi collegat brough destroyment of Majapahit kingdom. Realize that Ki Ageng Kutu did not has enough soldier he created a dance that called Reog Ponorogo to give an illusion for Kertabumi king.

In Reog Ponorogo we can see lion head Mask which become Kertabumi icon. up oof this mask is placed many bristles as the icon of influence that was brough by Kertabumi Collegant. we also can see there are many Gemblak dancer ride horse icon accompany Warok.



One of challenge in Reog Ponorogo is the mask that used has weight till 50 kg and it is rise within teeth oonly. This mask is iKi Ageng Kutu icon.

To day This traditional dance can be found in some ceremony such marriage. Usually Reog ponorogo scenario is matched on the situation. When it held in marriage ceremony it containt of love scenario.

There are some part of dance, two opening dance one main dance. The first opening dance is carried out by 6-8 strong man with full black costum and red face. then second opening dance was carried out by Some girls. Then it continue with main dance.

This dance also has studied and show in some big countries in Europe. There are many tourist who come to see the beauty of this tourist object.

SEKATEN CEREMONY



SEKATEN STORY

Sekaten ceremony starts on the 5th day of the Javanese month Maulud. People from Yogyakarta and villages around the city still believe that by celebrating Sekaten, particularly when listening to the sets of the Gamelan music, they will get rewards from the God Almighty, concerning their work, health and future. The first day of the ceremony starts at midnight with a procession of the royal servant, "abdi dalem" who walk in two rows bringing two sets of Gamelan named Kyai Nogowilogo and Kyai Gunturmadu. This procession leaves from the Ponconiti hall.


GAREBEG MAULUD
The climax of Sekaten ceremony is called Garebeg Maulud, held on 12th of the Javanese month Maulud. This festival starts by a parade of the Palace guard consisting ten units, namely; Wirobrojo, Daeng, Patangpuluh, Jogokaryo, Prawirotomo, Nyutro, Ketanggung, Mantrijero, Surokarso, and Bugis wearing their specific uniforms.

The parade starts from the yard of the northern Kemandungan of the palace, crosses the Sitihinggil, and the pagelaran to the northern square.

The Gunungan, made of food-like vegetables, peanuts, red peppers, eggs, and several delicacies from sticky rice. It is mountain shaped and symbolizes the prosperity and wealth of the Mataram's land.

View Toba Lake



World famous is the crater Toba Lake in the Batak highlands; approximately five hours drive from Medan. Toba Lake is the largest lake in South East Asia and also one of the most spectacular, surrounded by tall mountains and with the large island of Samosir in the middle. If we descend from the mountain we see the lake glittering in all its beauty. The Dutch writer Rudy Kousbroek even called Toba Lake, 'the most beautiful place on earth'. Most visitors stay on the peninsula of Tuk Tuk on Samosir, named after the linguist Herman Neubronner van der Tuuk. In general people stay several days on Samosir to discover the island, to visit traditional Batak villages, to swim in the lake and go to the hot springs in Pangururan.

The centerpiece of North Sumatra, Lake Toba's bracing climate and magnificent panoramas clear the mind and soothe the soul. For decades a magnet from regional and foreign visitors alike, Toba has developed into a full-featured highland resort while retaining the rustic charm and relaxed ambiance that define Toba's attraction. Formed by a stupendous prehistoric volcanic explosion, the 100 km long lake is the largest in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest and the highest in the world. The drama of that cataclysmic birth persist in 500 meter cliffs dropping into the blue-green waters, surrounded by steep, pine covered sloped, the climate is fresh and pleasant, with just enough rain to support the lush vegetation.

Toba Lake is a 100kms x 30kms volcanic lake in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Toba Lake has become one of the main tourist attractions for a long time in North Sumatra apart from Bukit Lawang and Nias, visited by both domestic and foreign tourist.

Tangkuban Perahu STORY


tangkuban Prahu volcano is one of the volcanoes located in West java., about 20 km the north of Bandung, the ca[ital city of west java province, Indonesia.
The origin of Tangkuban Perahu is related to the legend of Sangkuriang who fell in love with her mother, Dayang Sumbi. Knowing that sangkuriang is her son, Dayang Sumbi tried to defeat the marriage. She asked sangkuriang to make a ship as the condition of their marriage in a night. Knowing his failure in making a ship in one night, sangkuriang was angry and kick the unfinished ship. The ship fell down upside down and become a volcano called "Gunung tangkuban Perahu". Perahu, means ship.

Indonesian Handicraft


Malang regency has a handicraft center named “Pusat Kerajinan Kendedes” or Handicraft Center of Kendedes. Technology development brings Malang societies become dynamic society. There are many home industries that carry out nature source, such as; chips industry that use cassava, potatoes, etc; as its main material. Wooden sandal and the other handicraft industry have developed faster.

This potency has attracted many foreign and domestic tourists to explore Malang tourism. They interesting about Malang handicraft and souvenirs. To increase this potency, Malang regency prepares its home industries to become handicraft center area. One of them is Handicraft Center Of Kendedes. It sells many kind of handicraft product, such as; accessories, wooden crafting, unique bag, etc. Those products are handmade products, which made by Malang carvers and crafter.

SEMERU MOUNTAIN : Photo


A mountainous pleasure on the slope of the highest mount in Java, Mount Semeru. The beautiful and attractive panorama or special atmosphere can be found here beside its cool and fresh air. In this area we find a good place for Para-gliding and the Dutch Colonial Remnant.

This object lies on Argo Yuwono village, Ampelgading district, about 7 km to the North from Ampelgading.

The mount climbers are often visit this mount to enjoy its nature scenery and beautiful sunset, look from the peak of the mount.

BROMO MOUNTAIN VIEW


This National Park is one of the most beautiful places of interest in East Java. The beauties of mountain covered, give a special and characteristic green plants, arousing great interest. Tenggerese traditional farming also makes this famous place being more interesting and attractive. In addition, cool and breezy wind always blows freshly giving ever visitor special deep impression a unforgettable memories.
The accessibility has no problem and very reachable (via Malang, Pasuruan, Probolinggo or Lumajang).
Surely, different access give different characteristics scenery landscape. The elevation reaches about 2.392 meter sea level above and the temperature varies from 3 up to 20 degrees centigrade.

The people who live in this area are supposed to be descended from Majapahit Kingdom about six hundred years ago. The belonged to Tenggerese Hinduism with old traditional. That tradition still survives up to now. Every year, they always carry out the traditional and religious ceremonies, and the most popular ones is Yadnya Kasada, an offering ceremony held at the edge of the crater on the top of mount Bromo.
